Loneliness and Divorce

May 18th, 2015

Once your marriage is over and you find yourself alone, it can be hard to face your new life. Nights seem to get longer and you may have trouble finding someone you can share special moments with. Here are some ways to move past being lonely and find fulfillment in your life.

The first thing you should do is surrender to the idea of forever. While you will not always be alone and the pain will someday subside, certain aspects of divorce are forever. For example, sharing custody means you will have to still interact with your ex. You will have to get used to dealing with them at holidays, having financial discussions, and sharing parenting responsibilities. If you do not have children, you will have to come to terms that the plans you had for the two of you are gone…forever.

When venturing back out into the world, you should look for new ways to put yourself out there, but they should help you feel happy and allow you to meet people who share similar interests.
