Ronald Johnston Family Law- Fear of What is to Come

January 21st, 2015

Many people who are experiencing a divorce will encounter fear. This is a very normal reaction to the uncertainty for the future. As you move through the stages of divorce, you may begin to feel a lack of control. This can be hard for people because there is a new inability to work towards previous goals. Married couples build dreams and families, and once that begins to fall apart, it can be a scary place to be. With all of the emotions surrounding divorce, it is important to still hold on to some of your goals.

Some questions you may be asking yourself are:

  • Will I be alone forever?
  • Will this case ever end?
  • How will I support myself?
  • How will we split up our possessions?

Throughout this process, it is very important to be honest and cooperate fully with the proceedings. Working together with the court system, your current spouse, and any attorneys involved can help things progress so you can get to your new life as soon as possible. It is very important to hand over the control just a bit and allow the process to unfold.
