Ronald Johnston Family Law-The Importance of a Loving Father’s Presence

January 30th, 2015

When appropriate, it is important for dads to be involved in every part of their children’s childhood. In our society we should have dads that diaper, feed, read bedtime stories, snuggle, make breakfast, and support their children. When a child goes through a divorce, it is a very emotional situation. This is especially true if the divorce means losing one of their supports- a father’s impact on a child’s life is very important.

While some may say that having a father be a major part of their kids’ lives is a disruption to their schedule and daily life, it has been proven over and over again that this is simply not the case.

There is no support for the notion that young children need to spend all of their time with their mother to ensure their development- a father’s impact is just as important. Babies and toddlers both need their parents to always respond to their needs, both affectionately and sensitively. While routine and schedule are important, as long as both parents have their child’s best interest at heart and give them the love they need, nothing will be disrupted. (Source)
